Keeping Your Furry Friends Happy
(1) Your new friend. To make a new puppy feel comfortable in its new home, wrap a towel around a warm (but no too hot) water bottle. This will remind him of having his mother & siblings close by.
2) Smokers beware! Never leave cigarettes or cigarette butts where your animal can get at them. If eaten, your pet could get nicotine poisoning.
If you have a puppy that wets on your carpet. Soak up most of the mess with paper towel, sprinkle a generous amount of bicarbontae of soda (baking soda) over the area and leave it to absorb both the traces of urine and the odor.
(3) The truth about eating grass. Never let your pet eat grass that has been chemically treated. Your pet could get seriously ill from this. If the grass has no been treated (which is rare these days), it's fine for your pet to graze away.
(4) Potty training for cats. When trying to teach your cat how to use a litter box there are some simple tips to help things go smoother. Place the litter box in a clean, relatively quite, and accessible area. Never put the litter box by the cats' food or water. After all would you like to eat in your bathroom?! Always clean up any accidents right away. This will prevent the cat from returning to that spot in the future. If your cat does have an accident simply say "No" firmly & then place the cat in its litter box & give it praise.
(5) Smarter than an ant. If ants are getting in to your pets food dish, try placing the dish in a shallow pan filled with water and a bit of dish soap. This will prevent the ants from crossing the water and getting into the food.
6) Senior citizens. If you have an older cat that has trouble getting in and out of its litter box, try using a dogs litter box. A dogs litter box is bigger but it has shorter sides.
